Automatic Weather Stations for Civil Aviation
Aerodrome decisions depend on the weather being measured correctly, continuously and to international standard. Beyond the runway
The same observation backbone underpins our exposure science. On-site meteorology is the input that makes dispersion modelling defensible, wind roses, stability classes and mixing heights feeding AERMOD and CALPUFF, and driving dust, odour and emissions predictions for mines, tailings facilities and industrial neighbours.
Stack & Point-Source Emissions Monitoring
What leaves the stack determines what the community breathes. We measure point-source emissions to recognised isokinetic and instrumental methods, then connect those results to dispersion modelling and community exposure assessment, closing the loop between the emission point and the receptor.

Air Quality Monitoring with Low-Cost Sensor Networks
A single reference station tells you what the air was like at one point. A network tells you where the problem is. We deploy dense arrays of calibrated low-cost sensors across mine boundaries, industrial fencelines and communities, then apply the exposure science that turns cheap sensor signals into decision-grade data.
Density over scarcity
Many nodes instead of one station, resolving hotspots, gradients and fenceline variation that a single monitor cannot see.
Real-time & continuous
Live PM2.5, PM10 and gas readings streamed to dashboards, with threshold alerting when conditions deteriorate.

Co-location against reference-grade instruments with correction for humidity and drift, the step that makes the data defensible.
Why this is different
Sensors are the easy part. The science is the value.
Anyone can hang a sensor on a fence. Uncalibrated low-cost sensors drift, respond to humidity and mis-size particles, which is why so much sensor data is dismissed the moment it is challenged. We treat the network as an exposure-assessment instrument: co-located calibration, correction models, data-quality flagging, and interpretation against ambient guidelines with uncertainty stated. That is what makes the output usable for community engagement, regulators and, if it ever comes to it, a courtroom.

Licensed by the Radiation Protection Inspectorate, Botswana
Smart Radiation Group (Pty) Ltd is licensed by Botswana's Radiation Protection Inspectorate under the Radiation Protection Act (No. 22 of 2006) and the Radiation Protection Regulations, 2008. Our licensing covers the provision of radiation monitoring and dosimetry services, as well as the supply, service and maintenance of ionising-radiation generating equipment (the latter under Licence No. BW1681/2025, valid to 2 December 2027). All radiation work is performed under a designated Responsible Person.
